Wedding Video Editing Prices in 2026: What Filmmakers Pay Per Film
What drives the price of an outsourced wedding edit, what each deliverable costs at House of Souls, and how to work out your margin per wedding.

"How much does wedding video editing cost?" is one of the first questions filmmakers ask when they think about outsourcing. The honest answer is that it depends on what you deliver, how long each film runs and how closely the edit needs to match your style. This guide breaks down what drives the price, shows our current rates, and gives you a simple way to work out your margin per wedding.
What affects the price of a wedding edit
1. The deliverable. A one-minute social teaser takes far less time than a 12-minute feature film. Most editing teams price each deliverable separately.
2. Runtime. Longer films mean more footage to review, more story decisions and more audio to clean. Runtime is usually the biggest single factor.
3. Style matching. An edit made in the editor's house style is faster than one built to match your pacing, color and storytelling. Custom style matching costs more because it takes more time and more review.
4. Footage and audio. Multi-camera coverage, long ceremonies, several speeches and drone footage all add review and sync time.
5. Revisions. Check how many revision rounds are included. Extra rounds are often charged separately.
6. Turnaround. Rush delivery is usually an add-on, because it means rearranging the editing schedule.

How to work out your margin per wedding
A quick way to decide whether outsourcing pays:
- Write down what the couple pays for the film package.
- Add up your outsourced editing cost for every deliverable in that package. For example, an Essential highlight film ($249) plus a social teaser ($69) comes to $318.
- Estimate the hours you would have spent editing it yourself, and what those hours are worth if you spent them shooting, selling or resting.
- Compare. If those hours are worth more than the editing cost, outsourcing raises your real profit per wedding, even before you count the extra bookings you can take on.
Many filmmakers find that outsourcing the highlight film and teaser, while keeping the feature edit in-house, is a good first step.
Questions to ask any editing service about pricing
- Is the price per film or per hour?
- What runtime does each price cover?
- How many revision rounds are included, and what does an extra round cost?
- Are music licensing, color grading and audio cleanup included?
- Do I get the project files?
- What is the standard turnaround, and is rush delivery available?
Clear answers to these questions make it easy to compare services fairly.
